China to compete with the EU in the Ukrainian rape meal market
Rape meal exports in MY 2019/20 (July-October) hit a record high of 167.9 KMT due to a larger crop and higher domestic crush, reports UkrAgroConsult.
The EU remains the biggest importer, with deliveries to this destination being up 4% year-on-year.
A rise in exports was registered to Israel (+222%), Spain (+31%) and Turkey (manifold).
A slowdown in exports was observed to Poland (-48%), Portugal (-53%) and Latvia (-88%).
Ukraine and China have signed a protocol on rape meal exports. Taking into account that the active phase of this 2019/20 season is over (more than 93% of exportable rape meal supplies have already been shipped abroad), competition between China and the key importer – the EU – for available meal volumes will unfold next season.
