Ukraine produces almost 1 mln tonnes of sugar since Sept 5
Ukrainian sugar refineries have produced 981,900 tonnes of sugar since the beginning of the sugar-making season, which started on September 5 with the launch of the Radekhiv sugar refinery.
This was reported by the press service of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (NASU) Ukrtsukor.
“By December 22, some 981,900 tonnes of sugar had been produced and 7.39 million tonnes of sugar beets had been processed,” it said.
According to the report, 30 sugar refineries are currently operating in Ukraine.
Previous developments
- Experts from the Economic Discussion Club (EDC) predict a 20% decrease in sugar production in Ukraine in the current season, which is scheduled from September 2020 to August 2021. They also forecast an inevitable increase in the price of this product.
- Sugar production in Ukraine in the 2019-2020 season (September 2019 – August 2020) totaled 1.48 million tonnes, which is 19% down year-on-year.
