“Grain deal” may be extended for another 2 months – Cavusoglu
The Black Sea Grain Initiative may be extended for another two months, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a meeting between delegations from Turkey, the aggressor state of Russia, Ukraine, and the United Nations in Istanbul. This was reported by the Daily Sabbah on Wednesday, May 10.
The publication notes that Cavusoglu suggested the possibility of extending the grain initiative for another two months, which will be discussed on May 10 at a meeting of UN representatives, deputy defense ministers of Russia, Ukraine and Turkey in Istanbul. The meeting is expected to discuss a number of issues, including the evacuation of some Turkish-flagged ships and details of the extension of the grain deal, as well as its importance in promoting stability in Africa. The agreement is set to expire on May 18.
The publication recalls that in April, the Russian side said that the current situation was “not conducive” to the continuation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, as Moscow wants to remove obstacles to the export of its fertilizers, only in this case will it agree to another extension of the grain deal, which was signed in Istanbul last July by the four parties.
