Ukraine. The downward trend in grain plantings towards oilseeds will continue next year
Last year, Ukrainian farmers increased the area under oilseeds at the expense of grain production. This trend will continue next year.
This opinion was expressed on TV by Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
He noted that this year, compared to the pre-war period, farmers in Ukraine have increased the area of such crops as buckwheat and sugar beet, which was planted by 15% more than last year. There are also enough peas and oats.
“If we talk about crops that occupy millions of hectares, we see that the trend towards a decrease in grain areas and, accordingly, an increase in oilseeds remains and is likely to be relevant next year,” he said.
