Ukraine Oilseeds Market Enters a Season of Bigger Opportunities and New Risks
Ukraine’s oilseed market is entering the 2026/27 season with expectations of a larger crop and stronger processing demand, while weather risks and delayed sowing continue to keep the market nervous. According to UkrAgroConsult, the sector is moving into a new phase where supply growth and processing expansion will shape competition.
Total oilseed production in Ukraine is expected at around 22.8 M mt, while late sowing remains one of the key short-term risks for the market. The seasonal dynamics already point to tighter logistics periods and growing sensitivity to summer weather conditions.
Sunflower remains the main growth driver for the sector. Production may rise to 13.7 M mt, creating a significantly larger resource base for crushing and exports of sunflower oil and meal. The balance structure reflects stronger processing activity and export potential despite market uncertainty.
Soybeans continue to demonstrate a more balanced market model where exports and domestic crushing are developing simultaneously. The sector keeps strong export orientation while internal processing gradually increases its role in the Ukrainian market structure.
Rapeseed also strengthens its strategic position in Ukraine. Even with weather-related risks already factored into forecasts, domestic processing may reach a new historical high. UkrAgroConsult emphasizes that sunflower, soybeans and rapeseed are increasingly shaping the future of Ukraine’s value-added oilseed industry.
Production dynamics reflect the expected expansion of Ukraine’s oilseed sector together with stronger processing activity. Balance structures for sunflower soybeans and rapeseed demonstrate changing relationships between exports domestic crushing and ending stocks. Sowing progress data highlights the slower seasonal pace and the growing dependence of the market on weather conditions.
