Ukraine’s wheat market enters the 2026/27 season with a combination of solid production prospects and still substantial available supplies. According to UkrAgroConsult, export activity accelerated during the final months of the current marketing year, improving market sentiment and supporting trade expectations.

Ukraine exported 12.35 M mt of wheat during the first eleven months of the season, while the export forecast was raised to 13.5 M mt. Even with stronger shipments, carryover stocks are expected to remain significant, creating an important factor for market participants to monitor during the new season.

Weather conditions currently support wheat production prospects. Moderate temperatures, sufficient soil moisture and timely rainfall across key growing regions strengthen confidence in a stable harvest outlook. Expectations for the new crop remain close to 23 M mt.

An important feature of the current market is the resilience of prices. Forward values remain close to nearby market levels despite large stocks, reflecting concerns about future supply risks, geopolitical uncertainty and the potential influence of demand from Asian importers.

UkrAgroConsult notes that competition among Black Sea exporters may intensify in the coming season. At the same time, demand from North Africa and Asia will remain one of the key factors shaping export opportunities, trade flows and pricing dynamics.

Export destination distribution highlights the strategic importance of Egypt, Algeria and Indonesia for Ukrainian wheat sales. Moisture reserves and precipitation patterns support expectations for stable crop development across major producing regions. Price dynamics illustrate the market recovery that developed during spring, while regional supply balances emphasize growing competition among Black Sea exporters.

Key Trends

  • Export activity accelerated toward the end of the season, improving market sentiment despite large available supplies.
  • Carryover stocks remain high, but they have not generated the expected bearish pressure on wheat prices.
  • Weather conditions support stable production prospects and strengthen confidence in the new crop outlook.
  • Asian and North African demand continue playing a critical role in determining Ukraine’s export opportunities.
  • Competition among Black Sea suppliers is expected to intensify as exporters compete for every major tender.
