Sunseed prices in Ukraine continue to rise
In the sunflower seed market, farmers have finally seen the higher price levels they had been anticipating.
Over the week of May 22-29, sunflower prices increased by UAH 650 to UAH 34,000/mt (USD 767.64/mt).
Limited supply and the need to fulfil existing contracts forced processors to raise their sunflower seed purchase prices.
However, the overall market situation has not changed significantly. The imbalance between demand and supply persists, which could provide further support to prices in the coming week.
At the same time, relatively stable sunflower oil prices are likely to limit the scope for substantial additional gains in sunflower seed values.
Meanwhile, sunflower planting progress has accelerated and has now nearly caught up with last year’s pace.
