The wheat harvest in Kazakhstan will be 27% below last year’s level. This forecast was published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on December 8.
In its December report, the agency maintained its previous estimate of the harvest at 12 million tons in 2023/24 marketing year.

Last season wheat production in Kazakhstan amounted to 16.4 million tons, in the season 2021/22 – 11.8 million tons.

Despite the fact that the sown area in the current season remained the same – 13.6 million hectares, wheat yields decreased by 31% – to 0.88 tons per hectare.

In November, the U.S. Department of Agriculture attributed the decline in future yields to rains and the need to dry grain.
