It will be much more expensive for importers to replace Ukrainian grain on world markets
If Ukrainian farmers continue to suffer constant losses, it will lead to bankruptcy. This opinion was expressed by Mykola Gorbachev, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, during Shipping and Trade Day.
Ukrainian farmers work without any subsidies, like a real business, so they have to sell their grain at a profit. Otherwise, they will suffer significant losses, which will lead to bankruptcy. It will take several years to recover and increase production. During this period, all importers will be looking for a replacement for Ukrainian grain. But this replacement will be more expensive.
According to him, Ukraine’s geographical position is one of the best: we can easily reach North Africa, Europe, or Asia. Before the war, 30% of Ukraine’s agricultural exports went to Europe, 30% to North Africa, and about 40% to Asia.
“In any case, I am confident that Ukraine will survive, continue to grow grain and export it,” Mr. Gorbachev emphasized.
