Germany lowers wheat and barley harvest forecasts
The German Association of Farmers’ Cooperatives lowered its forecast for wheat and rapeseed harvest as the plants suffered from dry and hot weather.
Gross wheat harvest in 2023 will decrease to 21.87 mln tonnes, down 2.9% compared to last year, winter rapeseed – by 3.1% to 4.14 mln tonnes.
In May, the Association of German Farmers’ Cooperatives predicted that the production of wheat will amount to 22.31 mln tonnes, winter rapeseed – 4.28 mln tonnes.
