United and Neste extend SAF supplies in the US and Europe amid growing biofuel demand

United Airlines and Neste have extended their agreements for the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for flights departing from Chicago O’Hare in the US and Amsterdam Schiphol in the Netherlands.

SAF deliveries to Amsterdam under the extended contract ran from June through August 2026. Deliveries to Chicago began in July 2026 and are scheduled to continue through June 2027.

In 2025, United used more than 83 thsd tons of SAF, up 104% from a year earlier. According to the company, this made it the largest SAF user among major US airlines.

United has also expanded SAF use to its hubs in Newark, Washington and Houston. Overall, the airline now uses SAF at six of its seven domestic hubs.

The extension of the Neste agreement reflects the continued scaling of regular SAF use in the US and Europe and supports demand for feedstocks used in renewable aviation fuel production.
