Sowing season in Ukraine is in the home stretch

More than 7 million hectares of oilseeds and over 5.5 million hectares of grains and pulses have been planted in the government-controlled areas. Agricultural producers in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Odesa, Poltava, Ternopil, Bukovyna and Zakarpattia regions have fully completed sowing spring crops.
In particular, farmers have already sown more than 98% of spring grains and pulses:
- corn – 3,895.2 thou hectares
- barley – 782.6 thou hectares
- wheat – 252.5 thou hectares;
- oats – 163.7 thou hectares;
- peas – 162.5 thousand hectares;
- buckwheat – 97.7 thou hectares;
- millet – 63.6 thou hectares.
Over the past week, the area under grains and pulses increased to 104.8 thou hectares.
Among oilseeds, the area under sunflower was 5 123.9 thou hectares, and soybeans – 1 931.8 thou hectares.
Sugar beet was planted on the area of 250.1 thou hectares.
