Russia accused Israel of “causing pressure from Ukraine” in the situation with stolen grain at the port of Haifa
Russia has accused the Israeli authorities of succumbing to pressure from Ukraine in a dispute over a grain shipment that was denied unloading at an Israeli port last month, Reuters reports.
Ukraine says the grain was stolen by Russia from the occupied territories.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it rejected what it called “absurd and unfounded accusations by the Ukrainian side.”
“Moscow regrets this step, which was apparently taken under pressure from Kyiv,” the statement said.
It added that this “contradicts the Israeli authorities’ declared commitment to supporting Russian-Israeli economic cooperation and threatens Israel’s own food security.”
Ukraine said at the time that the refusal to accept the cargo was a positive signal that indicated the effectiveness of Kyiv’s legal and diplomatic actions.
