Malaysia is introducing B20 biodiesel for ground transportation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
B20 biodiesel: A step towards sustainable transportation
On May 29, 2025, Malaysia’s Minister of Plantations and Commodities, Johari Abdul Ghani, announced the launch of a pilot project to use B20 biodiesel (20% palm biodiesel) for ground transportation at Kuala Lumpur Airport. The initiative is part of the country’s strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support sustainable development.
Increasing the share of biodiesel: Moving from B10 (10% biodiesel) to B20 for ground transportation at the airport.
Supporting local farmers: The use of palm biodiesel contributes to the development of local communities and farms.
Program expansion: Pilot projects are also being implemented in Port Klang, Tanjung Pelepas, Johor and Kuching.
