Kazakhstan announces second stage of 2023 meat, poultry TRQs
According to a recent US Department of Agriculture GAIN report, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration announced the second stage of 2023 meat and poultry quotas by HS code for historic suppliers. The announcement was made on April 13, 2023.
The second stage approved the distribution of 8,505 tons of beef and 94,500 tons of poultry. The 2023 tariff rate quota (TRQ) volumes and rates remain unchanged from those announced in 2022.
As a EAEU member, Kazakhstan approves specific volumes to “historical suppliers” who are authorised to import the product under the preferential customs rate of 15% of customs value for beef; and 25%, but not less than 0.20 euros per kilogram for poultry.
Any beef imported outside of the quota is assessed a duty rate of 50% of the customs value, but not less than 1.0 euro per kilogram.
Any poultry imported outside of the quota is assessed a duty rate of 80% of the customs value, but not less than 0.7 euros per kilogram.
Beef and poultry products are still under TRQ regimes, while pork quotas were cancelled in 2016.
