Japan to import 920 tons of feed wheat and barley via tender
Japan has purchased 700 tons of feed wheat and 220 tons of feed barley. The grain, intended for feed production, was purchased at an auction that ended last Wednesday, Reuters reported citing the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).
The ministry had requested 65,000 tons of feed wheat and 25,000 tons of feed barley to be shipped by January 31, 2025 and arrive in Japan by March 13.
Japan buys and sells feed wheat and barley through so-called SBS auctions, where end users and importers specify the origin, price, and quantity of grain, allowing grain processors to meet their feed grain needs.
