High oleic sunflower seed gaining interest among growers

According to Oil World’s estimates, the planted area of high oleic sunflower in 2019 expanded to 1.3 Ml ha (up 40%, or 360 Th ha from last year). Its breakdown by key producing countries is as follows:

– Spain – 0.22 Ml ha against 0.14 Ml ha a year earlier;

– France – 0.45 Ml ha against 0.36 Ml ha;

– Ukraine – 0.36 Ml ha against 0.25 Ml ha;

– Argentina – 0.21 Ml ha against 0.15 Ml ha

The crop of high oleic sunflower seed increased to 1.1 MMT (up 37.5% from last year’s 0.8 MMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.
