Grain corridor: no vessels have been registered for entry for two days
In recent months, the grain corridor has been working inefficiently, and now we can state that it is completely inoperative due to the actions of Russia, which has not registered a single vessel for entry during the last two days. This was announced by Yuriy Vaskov, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, during the UGA Grain Club.
“From May 1 until the day before yesterday, there were two vessels per entry on average, they registered and participated in the inspection for three days, and the last two days there were 0 vessels per entry. At the same time, about 30 vessels are waiting to enter, some of which have been in line for more than 3.5 months. Of course, this situation emphasizes the need to open deepwater ports through other scenarios and mechanisms,” said Yuriy Vaskov.
According to him, Plan B is a total set of alternative export routes that will allow farmers to ensure the export of their crops: these include the western borders and further development of the Danube infrastructure.
Also, all agencies are working on the issue of operating large ports outside of Russia’s participation in the grain deal, but there is no final decision on when it will happen and in what form.
“There is such a possibility, but it has to be worked out very carefully, as it is not only a commercial and logistical issue, but also a security issue, as the country is at war. When and how it will be possible to work under the alternative scenario will be known when all the structures involved in this process are ready for it,” explained Yuriy Vaskov.
He added that next week they expect a clear response from the parties with whom Ukraine signed the grain agreement – the UN and Turkey – regarding their official position on this document.
