Exports of Ukrainian corn and wheat decreased in May
In May, exports of last year’s grain harvest traditionally decline. This year, corn exports decreased by 452 thousand tons compared to April (3.6 million tons), and wheat exports decreased by 285 thousand tons (1.6 million tons in April).
This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy.
He also noted that in May, grain exports to China decreased by 30%. This is because corn is the main export commodity to this country.
Instead, exports to India increased by 85% to $148 million. The lion’s share of exports to this country is sunflower oil. Exports of this commodity increased by 13.7% in May and amounted to 714 thousand tons.
