Coceral updated milling wheat crop forecast for EU
Coceral has updated its milling wheat crop forecast, which has been reduced by 7.7 million tons, from 122.6 million tons in June to 114.9 million tons in September. Relative to last year, the drop in the harvest will be 11.5 million tons.
The biggest decline was in France -4.1 million tons against the June forecast, and Germany -1.8 million tons. Both countries were hit by reduced winter acreage due to prolonged rains during the 2023 planting campaign, as well as rain and lack of sunshine in the spring of 2024 in western Europe. Belgium -0.4 million tons, Denmark -0.4 million tons and Sweden -0.37 million tons were also affected by sharp forecast cuts.
