Argentina’s soybean oil exports reach record high in June

Argentina exported a record 742 thsd tons of soybean oil in June 2026, significantly exceeding the 589 thsd tons shipped in the same month last year, according to Germany-based analytical agency Oil World.

The increase was driven by strong demand from India and higher domestic soybean crushing volumes. Argentine processors crushed 4.14 mln tons of soybeans in June, up from 4.06 mln tons a year earlier. Additional demand also came from Nepal, with combined shipments to India and Nepal rising sharply year over year.

During the second quarter (April–June), Argentina’s soybean oil exports totaled 1.96 mln tons, compared with 1.80 mln tons in the same period of 2025. India remained the largest buyer, importing around 1 mln tons, while notable volumes were also shipped to Nepal (about 130 thsd tons), Peru (117 thsd tons), Chile (63 thsd tons), and African countries (270 thsd tons).

Strong processing activity also supported soybean meal exports. June shipments increased 7% year over year to 2.77 mln tons, while exports for April–June reached 8 mln tons, up 0.4 mln tons from the previous year.

At the same time, export destinations for soybean meal shifted. Shipments to the European Union declined by around 0.6 mln tons to 1.7 mln tons in the second quarter. The decline was largely offset by higher exports to Vietnam (0.95 mln tons), Indonesia (0.73 mln tons), as well as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Iraq, Morocco, Egypt, and Central American countries.
