Soybean market in Ukraine
Soybean is the main oilseed crop in the global market. World soybean production is growing at a very high rate.
The main reasons for the active development of the soybean market are:
- Growth in demand for soybean products in the world (soybean oil, meal), due to the constant population growth;
- Growth in the use of soybean oil in biofuel production;
- High profitability of production in comparison with other agricultural crops, etc.
Over the recent years soybeans have significantly strengthened their positions in the Ukrainian agricultural market as well.
In Ukraine soy is of interest both for its processors and exporters, food industry’s interest is at least equal. Soybeans are used for manufacturing semi-products and as ingredients in meat and dairy production, confectionary and bakery products.
Domestic market competition for soybeans between exporters and crushers grows continuously. However, this does not mean lower interest in construction of new soybean crushing capacities.
