Warsaw hopes to stop transit of Ukrainian grain on April 1
Poland and Ukraine are negotiating the introduction of licenses for agricultural products. Warsaw also hopes to stop the transit of Ukrainian grain from April 1.
Polish Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Getman said on Monday on Radio Lublin.
“We have made great progress in negotiations with Ukraine on the licensing system, which our predecessors also failed to implement. We are already at the stage of negotiations with the Ukrainian side on sensitive products. I hope that these negotiations will continue this week and they will be finalized,” Hetman said.
He also said that the Polish government is planning to pay additional payments to farmers who have a surplus of wheat.
“We hope, as we have discussed this with the Ukrainian side, that even transit, primarily corn and wheat, will practically stop from April 1,” the Polish official added.
According to him, during the three months of protests by Polish farmers on the border with Ukraine, many of the farmers’ demands, including those related to the European Green Deal, were met.
