Ukraine’s butter market is showing signs of stabilization in August. Despite significant stocks, producers are no longer rushing to sell at minimum prices, reducing the availability of cheaper offers and effectively stabilizing the lower end of the price range.

The domestic market is also receiving support from improving exports. Ukraine significantly increased butter shipments in July, primarily to the EU and Israel. Packaged butter, a higher value-added product, accounted for a significant share of exports.

Export prices for Ukrainian butter have also strengthened somewhat, following positive trends in the European market. Market participants expect European prices to rise further this autumn, which could improve export opportunities for Ukrainian producers.

At the same time, a rapid increase in domestic prices is being restrained by substantial stocks and imports. Significant volumes of inexpensive packaged butter from Poland and Lithuania remain on the Ukrainian market, creating additional competition for domestic producers.

Overall, Ukraine’s butter market is entering the autumn without clear prerequisites for another significant price decline. Further developments will largely depend on European market trends and Ukraine’s ability to increase butter exports to the EU.
