Ukraine’s sunflower oil exports in MY 2026/27 could remain around half the usual level due to damage to port and storage infrastructure, as well as disruptions to shipments through the Black Sea. Industry representatives said this at the Globoil conference in Mumbai.

According to Andrii Paladii, president and trading director for vegetable oils and proteins at Inerco Trade SA, Ukraine could export around 300 thsd tons of sunflower oil per month between October and March. This is almost half the usual pace of shipments.

Ukraine’s logistics situation has improved somewhat compared with September, but exports are still being constrained by the consequences of attacks on port infrastructure and higher risks for maritime transportation. This limits exporters’ ability to rapidly increase shipments even when product is available.

India could import around 700 thsd tons of Ukrainian sunflower oil in MY 2026/27, while Europe is expected to remain Ukraine’s largest destination market. As of September 29, Platts assessed Ukrainian sunflower oil FOB Black Sea for November shipment at $1,130/t.

Export difficulties are also affecting Russia, where monthly shipments between October and March are forecast at 250–300 thsd tons, compared with around 400 thsd tons a year earlier. As a result, limited supply from the two largest Black Sea exporters could remain an important factor for the global sunflower oil market in MY 2026/27.
