Ukraine’s sugar production to reach 1.7-1.8 mln tons
Taking into account the weather conditions in 2024/25 MY, Ukraine will produce 1.7-1.8 million tons of sugar.
This was reported in an article for The Ukrainian Farmer magazine by Oleksandr Korotynskyi, Director of the SIC “Sugar Beet Production”, member of the Agricultural Committee at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to him, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, this year the area under sugar beet did not exceed 250 thousand hectares, which is almost the same as last year.
“The average yield of sweet roots from the harvested areas is 46 tons per hectare, which is also in line with last year. The best yields are harvested in the West of Ukraine, where the weather conditions were more favorable. Less root crops per hectare are harvested in the central regions of the country, in particular, in Poltava, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions. However, the sugar content is slightly higher there, although it does not cover the difference in yield,” said Mr. Korotynskyi.
