Ukraine restricted the import of poultry and its processed products from the US
Ukraine has temporarily restricted imports of animal products from the United States due to the registration of cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza. This was reported by the Eastern Interregional Main Directorate of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
Starting from August 4, the import of hatching eggs, live poultry and poultry products is prohibited – except for those that have undergone appropriate heat treatment or other processing that guarantees the destruction of the virus.
The restrictions apply to products originating from the following US states:
- South Dakota,
- North Dakota,
- Illinois,
- California,
- New Jersey,
- Wisconsin,
- New Mexico,
- Arizona.
The State Service for Food and Consumer Protection emphasizes that such measures are standard practice to prevent the introduction of the pathogen into the territory of Ukraine and protect the national poultry population.
