Ukraine plans to sow more than 23 mln ha in 2025
The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine held a meeting with his deputies and the State Secretary. The agenda included preparations for the 2025 sowing campaign.
According to the Minister, Ukraine has enough fertilizers and fuel for the sowing campaign, and the total area of crops will remain almost unchanged compared to last year.
“There are no major changes in crops this year. There is a slight increase in the area under corn, while the area under soybeans will decrease. Sunflower and wheat crops will remain at last year’s level,” said Vitaliy Koval.
According to the Ministry’s forecasts, the total area under crops in 2025 will be over 23 mln ha. Of these, 11.1 mln ha (48.1% of the total area) are planned for grain, in particular
- corn – 4.1 mln ha;
- spring barley – 790.2 thsd ha;
- spring wheat – 222.7 thsd ha;
- peas – 216.5 thsd ha;
- oats – 161.6 thsd ha;
- buckwheat – 86.8 thsd ha;
- millet – 85.5 thsd ha;
The area under winter grain crops is 5.2 mln ha.
As for oilseeds, their total area will reach 8.9 mln ha (38.7% of all crops). Among them:
- sunflower – 5.1 mln ha;a
- soybeans – 2.4 mln ha;
- rapeseed (spring and winter) – 1.2 mln ha;
The Ministry emphasizes that a stable structure of crops and the provision of key resources will help Ukraine to keep the agricultural sector competitive in difficult conditions.
