Ukraine. Ministry of Economy leaves the forecast for this year’s grain harvest at 56 mln tons
This season, the grain harvest is forecast at 56 million tons despite difficult weather conditions. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky in an interview with Forbes.
According to him, this year, grain crops were affected by a number of unforeseen weather phenomena, in particular, spring frosts that delayed ripening and harvesting, lack of moisture and fires in the south of the country.
“However, I think that we will reach 56 million tons in terms of grain, like last year. Although, of course, there will be losses in certain regions,” Vysotsky noted.
In 2025, due to adverse weather conditions, the grain harvest could decrease to 51 million tons in a pessimistic scenario, the then Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval said in June. According to his estimate, the oilseed harvest will decrease by 5%, to 20.16 million tons compared to 21.18 million tons in 2024, in particular due to a decrease in the rapeseed harvest by 600,000 tons. According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, this year farmers will harvest approximately 26 million tons of corn, 20–22 million tons of wheat, 4.5 million tons of barley, 1.5 million tons of other grains, 11.5 million tons of sunflower seeds and 11 million tons of sugar beets.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
