Ukraine and Uzbekistan remove permit requirements for road freight
Ukraine and Uzbekistan are liberalising bilateral and transit road freight transport. Under a newly signed protocol, Ukrainian hauliers will be able to operate between the two countries without obtaining special permits.
The agreement provides for the removal of quotas and additional administrative procedures for freight carriers. This is expected to simplify road transport and reduce bureaucratic barriers for businesses.
Trade between Ukraine and Uzbekistan reached around $315 mln in 2025, up 14% year-on-year. The liberalisation of road freight is expected to support further growth in bilateral trade.
The new regime will apply to both bilateral shipments and transit traffic. For Ukrainian exporters, it expands road logistics opportunities toward Central Asian markets.
Ukraine currently has liberalised freight transport arrangements with 38 countries, including EU member states. In 2026, Ukraine also signed a similar permit-free road freight agreement with Albania.
