Ukraine and Turkey agree on joint phytosanitary procedures
Ukraine and Turkey are working to avoid downtime of ships transporting grain.
This was discussed during a working meeting of representatives of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection with colleagues from the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of the Republic of Turkey, the agency said in a statement.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on a number of pressing issues of bilateral cooperation and outlined ways for future cooperation.
In particular, the Turkish side proposed to conduct joint phytosanitary procedures, discussed the possibility of sending a list and copies of phytosanitary certificates issued by state phytosanitary inspectors for the export of goods to the Republic of Turkey, and in case of establishing the facts of fake phytosanitary certificates, the NPPO of the Republic of Turkey will send a copy of the fake phytosanitary certificate and a message indicating the exporter who is prohibited from importing regulated objects to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection for further consideration.
“Such measures should prevent the emergence of unjustified trade barriers between countries during the export/import of plants and plant products, in particular, to avoid delays in vehicles with Ukrainian products, which cause financial losses to exporting companies,” the agency said.
