Ukraine. Agriproducers urged to have farmland surveyed for mines
An inspection of the farmland to detect abandoned russian military equipment, ammunition or remnants of it, is required to guarantee safety for agricultural producers, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine urges.
The deactivation of hazardous military objects, including mines, in agricultural areas is particularly important for the start of the large-scale sowing campaign across Ukraine.
“Conduct an inspection of the farmland with representatives of the territorial defence force. Inform the Ukrainian Army if you find enemy equipment and ammunition (mines): all of it must be cleared and moved,” the ministry says in a statement.
The Ministry of Agriculture warns that not all enemy machinery is usable for the farms. Therefore, it would be better to hand them over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The initiative was proposed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Previously reported that eleven regions in Ukraine started spring crops sowing.
