Trump may postpone meeting with Xi Jinping if Beijing does not help in the Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump suggested that he might postpone his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping if Beijing does not help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
He said this in an interview with the Financial Times.
“I think China should help too, because 90% of China’s oil comes through this strait,” Trump said.
“We would like to know about it in advance. This (two weeks before the summit. – Ed.) – a long time … We can postpone the meeting,” the US leader said.
At the same time, one of the key topics of the planned meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping was to be the soybean trade. Analysts expected that the talks at the highest level could stimulate China to resume large-scale purchases of American soybeans, because this crop is one of the main elements of agricultural trade between the two countries and a symbol of their economic interdependence.
