Strike on the Zatoka bridge could disrupt logistics to Ukraine’s Danube ports

Over the weekend, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on the strategically important bridge in Zatoka, Odesa region.

The attack was reported by Russian Telegram channels and was also confirmed by Ukrainian sources.

Ukrainian Telegram channel “Mykolaivskyi Vanok” reported on Saturday morning that ballistic missiles and dozens of drones targeted Zatoka, later уточнив that the bridge had been the intended target, describing it as a structure that has been attacked “countless times” since the start of the war.

Russian sources published videos of the strike and claimed that the bridge had been put out of service for an extended period after a span in the northern section collapsed.

Ukraine has not officially confirmed these claims.

The Zatoka bridge remains the only railway connection linking Ukraine’s Danube ports with the rest of the country. It also plays a key role in cargo transit from Romania, making it a strategically important logistics route for regional trade. But there is no information that it has recently been used to transport cargo to ports.
