Slovakia lifts restrictions on grain imports from Ukraine
Slovak carrier ZSSK Cargo has lifted the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain. This was announced by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC.
“We have received a letter from ZSSK regarding the lifting of all restrictions on grain imports/transit to Slovakia,” said the UZ representative.
It is worth noting that currently there is no conventional ban on grain transportation to Slovakia on the website of Ukrzaliznytsia.
There are 100 railcars with grain heading to both Slovak border crossings: 90 – to the Chop-Cierna nad Tisou junction, and another 10 – to Uzhhorod-Matevtsi.
“In total, 21.83 railroad cars with grain are transferred through the Slovak border crossings every day. Over the past week, the figure has increased by 3.16 cars per day, or +66.93%,” emphasized Valeriy Tkachev.
As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia introduced a convention on food transportation to Slovakia. Later, the European Commission banned imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds originating in Ukraine to five countries, including Slovakia, until June 5.
