Saudi Arabia purchased 794 thsd tons of wheat in tender
Saudi Arabia’s main state procurement agency, the General Food Security Authority (GFSA), purchased around 794,000 metric tons of wheat on Monday in an international tender. This exceeded the initially planned amount of 655,000 tons. The wheat was bought in 13 separate consignments.
The wheat is scheduled for delivery to Saudi Arabia between May and July. Exact prices have not been disclosed. Shipments will be delivered to several ports: five consignments to Jeddah, five to Yanbu, two to Jazan, and one to Duba.
In its previous tender on January 19, the agency bought approximately 907,000 tons of hard wheat. The current purchase reflects Saudi Arabia’s steady demand for imported grain to ensure food security amid global uncertainties.
