Romanian milling wheat (12%) ended last week (June 26–July 3) lower by USD 5/mt, being at about USD 232/mt FOB Constanta. The prices are largely driven by the early start of wheat harvesting in the EU and in the Black Sea, including Romania.

According to Romanian Minister of Agriculture, the areas affected by drought in 2026 are significantly smaller. The grain harvesting is progressing properly, not disrupted by the heat waves.

High average wheat yields are reported. However, after the first week of harvesting the spread between milling and feed expanded from EUR 7 to EUR 10. Wheat delivered to Constanta are of good test weight, but mostly of feed quality with poor protein levels (about 10%).

Romanian market is watching the further harvesting progress. Usually, share of milling wheat 11.5-12.5% pro is 70-80% of the total wheat crop. If the quality doesn’t correct, the price spread will likely keep growing.
