Romanian rapeseed meets production risks

Production outlook of Romanian winter rapeseed remains generally favorable for 2026. However, the market is convinced that there are some factors, that may prevent to receive record production, despite the record area.
Recent phytosanitary analysis of the fields, carried out by the National Phytosanitary Authority of Romania, revealed both risks and benefits of the current snow cover. Early in January 2026, Romania faced a mix of positive temperatures with rain, followed by snowfalls. Thick snow cover on unfrozen soil creates the environment that favors the development of diseases.
UkrAgroConsult estimates the 2026 yield of Romanian rapeseed at the multiyear average, mainly due to highly variable conditions of plants before the winter dormancy period.
