Rapeseed processing costs in Ukraine have doubled
In the July–December 2025 period, Ukraine exported 1.359 million tonnes of rapeseed, while domestic processing amounted to 870,000 tonnes, leaving more than 1 million tonnes of potential export out of a 3.2 million tonne harvest.
This was reported by Spike Brokers on Telegram.
Last year, with a similar harvest size, rapeseed processing totaled only 200,000 tonnes, while exports reached 2.8 million tonnes.
“Processing costs for producers have more than doubled this year, sharply reducing their competitiveness,” analysts noted.
At the same time, the introduction of export duties and changes in logistics have affected market activity and the structure of sales.
Rapeseed imports into the EU in the 2025/26 season fell from 3.23 million tonnes to 1.85 million tonnes (-43%). Nevertheless, Ukraine retained its leading position by volume, although its market share declined from 62% to 57% (1.06 million tonnes). Exports of rapeseed meal rose from 220.9 thousand tonnes to 527.7 thousand tonnes (+139%) and came under the dominance of Canada (77%), while Ukraine’s share dropped from 75% to 13%.
Prices for Ukrainian non-GM ISCC rapeseed in February MATIF contracts were around €14 CIF Bulgaria, with a €30 discount for the Constanța direction and at parity with MATIF for deliveries to Germany.
