Galia Green Power has secured PLN 376 mln (€89.3 mln) to develop biogas and biomethane projects in Poland. The 18-year financing was provided by PKO Bank Polski, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and mBank. The deal is one of the largest financing arrangements in Poland’s biogas and biomethane sector in recent years.

The funds will be used to acquire existing biogas plants, expand operational facilities and develop new biomethane production capacity. The first tranche is expected to be deployed in the current quarter.

The financing agreement also provides for a potential additional PLN 225 mln (€53.3 mln), which could bring the total funding available to around €142.6 mln. New projects may gradually be added to the program if they meet specified technological and environmental criteria.

The company said the involvement of three major banks reflects growing financial-sector interest in Poland’s biomethane market. The banks see such projects as a tool for decarbonisation, strengthening energy security and supporting the circular economy.

Expansion of biogas and biomethane production could also create additional demand for locally sourced organic feedstock and agricultural waste. The program will enable Galia Green Power to scale up biogas capacity and expand biomethane production across Poland.
