Paraguay expands beef exports to Israel

Paraguay could set a historical record for beef exports to Israel in 2026, increasing shipments to 45–50 thsd tons. The country also aims to become the second-largest meat supplier to the Israeli market after Argentina, overtaking Uruguay, Brazil and Poland. This was announced by José Carlos Martín, head of Paraguay’s National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa).

The new season of kosher beef production for export to Israel is expected to begin in late October or early November 2026. Specialized teams are expected to arrive in Paraguay to oversee compliance with kosher production requirements. According to the Paraguayan Association of Meat Producers and Exporters (APPEC), their work at meat processing facilities will continue almost uninterrupted until April 2027.

Israel remains one of the most important export markets for Paraguay’s meat industry. It ranks third among buyers of Paraguayan beef by volume but offers the highest export price per ton. Israeli importers mainly purchase forequarter cuts, making this market particularly important for generating revenue for meat processing companies.

This season, Paraguayan exporters are also seeking to negotiate higher purchase prices compared with previous contracts. The high prices achieved in the Israeli market create additional opportunities to increase export revenues. At the same time, kosher production requires compliance with religious slaughter requirements and the presence of specialized certification teams, which can complicate the organization of shipments.

Further growth in beef exports to Israel would allow Paraguay to strengthen its position among leading beef suppliers and intensify competition with other South American countries. However, the implementation of these plans will depend on stable operations at meat processing facilities, timely kosher certification and the conclusion of new trade contracts. If projected export volumes are achieved, Israel will become an even more important destination for Paraguay’s meat industry.
