New French wheat harvest contains less protein – FranceAgriMer
Only 69% of French soft wheat showed a protein content of at least 11%. The five-year average is 83%. This is evidenced by the interim results of the 2025 harvest quality assessment conducted by the FranceAgriMer agency and the ARVALIS institute.
At the same time, 94% of the 2025 wheat harvest is characterized by a natural weight above 76 kg per hectolitre. The five-year average is 62%.
The falling number of 98% of the examined harvest is above 250, against the five-year average of 83%.
The interim assessments contain the results of sample testing in FranceAgriMer laboratories. The final results with more detailed information on grain quality and additional assessment criteria will be presented on September 17, the agency’s materials specify.
