Moldova raises rapeseed harvest forecasts to 400 thsd tons
The 2025/2026 season was a successful one for rapeseed in the Republic of Moldova, with total exports reaching 326,000 tons, both as raw material and processed oil.
According to data from already planted fields, Moldova expects an even more abundant rapeseed harvest in the 2025/2026 season, estimated at 350,000-400,000 tons.
The increase in production potential is part of a broader trend observed at the European level, where many analysts predict an expansion of rapeseed acreage by the 2026 harvest. The main driver remains the favorable price differential between rapeseed and grain crops, which has prompted farmers to adjust their cropping patterns.
It was previously reported that Moldova ranked second among rapeseed suppliers to the EU; the area under rapeseed in the country this season, and winter crops for the 2026 harvest in Moldova increased by 10-20% to a record 120 thousand hectares, compared to an average of 40-45 thousand hectares over the past five years.
