Malaysian palm oil exports show growth since the beginning of October
Malaysia’s palm oil exports reached 0.78 million tons for the October 1-15 period, up 12% from the same period last month and 4% higher than last year, according to analytics firm Amspec. This surge signals a recovery in trade following a slowdown in September.
October’s full-month exports are projected to hit a record 0.86 million tons for the month. September shipments totaled 1.43 million tons (vs. 1.56 million tons last year and 1.33 million tons in August), with key destinations including India, the EU, Pakistan, Nigeria, and other African countries. Exports to China continued to decline, estimated at 41,000 tons.
Year-to-date, Malaysia has shipped 11.04 million tons of palm oil abroad, including 1.92 million tons to India and 795,000 tons to the EU. Palm oil remains a cornerstone of the country’s export earnings.
