Maersk changes container rail rates between Ukraine and Gdansk from September

Maersk will change its container rail freight rates between Ukrainian terminals and the Polish port of Gdansk (DCT) from September 1, 2026. The new rates will apply to both import and export cargoes.

Export rates for standard dry cargo in 20-foot containers will range from $1,400 to $1,950 per container, while rates for 40-foot containers will range from $1,500 to $2,300, depending on the departure terminal. The cheapest of the listed routes is Mostyska–Gdansk, at $1,400 for a 20-foot container and $1,500 for a 40-foot container, with a transit time of around two days.

For shipments from Kyiv, Ternopil, Klevan and Vinnytsia, the export rate will be $1,800 per container regardless of size. Transit time to Gdansk is estimated at 5–8 days depending on the terminal.

The highest rates apply to shipments from Dnipro-Lisky, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv — $1,950 for a 20-foot container and $2,300 for a 40-foot container. Transit time is estimated at around 12 days from Dnipro and up to 14 days from Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv.

Import rates from Gdansk to Ukraine will range from $1,500 to $1,950 for a 20-foot container and from $2,000 to $2,600 for a 40-foot container. The base rates include rail transportation, handling at the inland terminal, security services, charges at other railway stations and transport documentation.
