Keith Kellogg arrives in Ukraine and inspects damaged port infrastructure
Former U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg arrived in Ukraine and visited the Odesa Commercial Sea Port. Together with a U.S. delegation and First Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Serhii Derkach, he inspected the port infrastructure and its operations.
The U.S. delegation was shown damage to port facilities caused by Russian attacks. The Ukrainian side highlighted the difficult security conditions under which the country’s ports and maritime shipping currently operate.
During the visit, the parties discussed shipping security, the operation of Ukraine’s maritime corridor and the resilience of export logistics. According to Derkach, it is important for U.S. partners to see firsthand the consequences of the attacks and the conditions in which Ukrainian ports are operating.
Despite Russian strikes on port and logistics infrastructure, Ukraine continues to maintain the maritime corridor. At the same time, the security of ports and commercial shipping remains one of the key factors for the stability of Ukrainian exports.
The Ukrainian and U.S. sides also discussed the possibility of involving American businesses in infrastructure reconstruction. This could include potential investment in the reconstruction and development of ports, roads and railways.
