In the coming days, Ukraine will send two vessels on a new route along the Danube
Ukraine is preparing the first two ships that will take a new route along the Danube to the Romanian port of Constanta. This alternative route is being formed in response to the blocking of the Polish border by protesters.
This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
He noted that the main export route in Ukraine is the sea route when it comes to agricultural products. Traditionally, processed foods have been exported more through land borders, with the largest cargo flow going through Poland. That is why exporters are now being offered an alternative route along the Upper Danube.
“We will deliver containers by barge to the ports of Romania, to Constanta. The first two vessels will depart in the coming days. In general, we expect that soon we will be able to deliver products of our producers upstream to the markets of Germany and Austria, but bypassing Poland,” said Kubrakov.
He noted that the government will promote exports.
“Of course, we need the market to consider the economy. For our part, all our companies, all our state-owned enterprises will meet the market, understanding the situation of our exporters and the market. This will be an alternative route,” added Kubrakov.
