Hungary offers to transport more Ukrainian grain by sea
Hungary has initiated the expansion of sea routes for the export of Ukrainian products to reduce the flow of land deliveries. This proposal was voiced by Hungarian Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy during a meeting with his Polish counterpart, according to the Hungarian government’s website.
In particular, Nagy asked Robert Telus for a mandate to negotiate with the Turkish side on opening new sea routes for grain exports in addition to the existing three Black Sea ports. The Hungarian minister noted that the current “Solidarity Roads” are not fulfilling their role, as Ukrainian products remain in Eastern European countries.
“Expanding sea routes would reduce the pressure on land shipments as well as on the EU’s internal markets,” the minister said.
At the same time, he expressed hope that the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain would be extended after September 15.
