Hungary culled nearly 3,000 pigs after first outbreaks of African swine fever detected
Hungary’s National Food Chain Safety Authority ordered the culling of approximately 3,000 pigs after confirming the first cases of African swine fever (ASF) on farms across the country.
Authorities have initiated animal culling operations and established protection and surveillance zones around outbreaks to contain its spread.
Relevant authorities have launched investigations to determine the source of the outbreak and assess the risk of further spread. Therefore, establishing control perimeters is a standard measure in outbreak response protocol.
