Global demand for linseed is driven by value-added processing
Linseed continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most versatile agricultural crops. According to the Kazakhstan Linseed Producers Association, demand is growing not only for linseed but also for value-added processed products, creating new opportunities for producers.
In the food industry, linseed consumption is rising due to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, plant protein, and dietary fiber. Food manufacturers are expanding their range of functional products containing linseed, supporting steady global demand for linseed and linseed oil.
At the same time, flax fiber is increasingly used in environmentally friendly composite materials for the automotive industry, construction, furniture manufacturing, and sports equipment. Natural fibers help reduce product weight and lower the carbon footprint compared with conventional materials.
Demand for linseed oil also remains strong outside the food sector. It continues to be an important raw material for the production of paints, varnishes, linoleum, printing inks, and other industrial products, supporting stable demand from manufacturers.
Industry analysts expect the global market for linseed products to continue expanding, driven by healthy food trends, sustainable materials, and advances in value-added processing. The Kazakhstan Linseed Producers Association believes the future of the sector lies not only in exporting raw materials but also in producing higher-value products, including food ingredients, oils, proteins, fibers, and innovative biomaterials.
